The Artist Explains: Devon Welsh - 'Uniform'
Ontario-born artist Devon Welsh speaks to us about his intimate visuals for ‘Uniform’ which lyrically explores the moving themes of role models, identity and love. ’Uniform’ is the fifth and final single taken from Devon Welsh’s second solo album, ‘True Love’, out now!
Where was the video for 'Uniform' filmed?
It was filmed in the basement of where I live!
How does the video connect with the song?
The video doesn’t really connect with the song in a literal way, my intention behind it was more to try to provide something of a “live” feeling to the song.
Do you have any behind the scenes stories you can share with us?
I held a candle while singing, and I ended up getting wax all over myself because the candle was burning too long.
Could you tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
The “idea” behind the video was pretty much to make something cool with what I had available to me. I like simple ideas because they are easy to execute, and this was a simple idea that I knew I could make myself at home.
What do you hope people take away from watching the video?
I hope people watching the video view it and then go out into the world and live their lives as fully as possible, make the world a better place, end all war, all suffering, all greed, and spread love and joy throughout the universe.
