Esbie Fonte: 'Cobwebs'

L.A based artist Esbie Fonte releases obscure indie to soundtrack the witching hour on spellbinding new single, ‘Cobwebs’.

Last month Esbie Fonte returned with her new single ‘Cobwebs’, her first single since the release of her EP ‘Cemetery Drive’. Opening with mesmerising looped production and male/female layered incantations, ‘Cobwebs’ is the perfect song for autumn and all of its dark, spooky charms as Fonte continues to conjure the spirits haunting the darkest parts of her soul.

While immediately mystical and suspenseful, the track moves on to introduce an upbeat drum rhythm that pads the song out with an upbeat kick. ‘Cobwebs’ then moves into familiar territory with thick, hypnotic production that sees reality distorted as she energetically swirls her listener’s mind into a dreamy state of disorientation, disillusion and defeatism.

But there’s also a progression of sound here as Fonte turns her vocal into a mellow, lulling tool in the second half of the track and the production touches upon a trip-hop-esque ambience, providing a brief sensation of peace in the midst of chaos, seeing the track trapped in the webs of a dark paradise that smells a lot like purgatory.
