Vaughan - 'Out of the Sky'

VAUGHAN paints a multi-faceted sonic masterpiece on ‘Out of the Sky’ the final track taken from his striking debut EP, ‘I Am’.

Avant-pop is at the heart of VAUGHAN’s sound who has hit out with a debut EP that is equally as emotive as it is eclectic and aesthetically pleasing. VAUGHAN’s style of left-of-center pop has his listener pleasantly sated by his hunger for unpredictable dynamics and dramatic, often contrasting, layers . ‘Out of the Sky’ is a hugely pleasing tune that opens with dreamy, atmospheric vocal layers and glitchy yet elegant production.

As the track develops, VAUGHAN meticulously contrasts light melodic trickling textures with fumy bass tones and buoyant percussion, giving the production elasticity to expand and contract within itself. VAUGHAN’s moreish vocal exudes confidence as he makes use of stream of consciousness lyricism amidst disorientating production, seeing falling out of the sky become a metaphor for falling out of love.

Underneath it all, ‘Out of the Sky’ is born from discontent and defeatism, but it remains moodily upbeat in its entirety as it sighs with acceptance that even the warmest, most beautiful of blue skies can be deceivingly cold and there’s only so long you can live with your head in the clouds when it comes to matters of the heart.
