LONA have treated us to their debut track, ‘She’s With Me’, they took a moment to talk to us about Liverpool, meeting as a band in London and listening to Post Malone.

Who are you top three musical inspirations?
Twenty One Pilots have sonically been a huge influence. I love how they fuse the programmed electronic feel with a live raw element to make huge energetic tracks that are slick and as cool AF.

Arctic Monkeys have been one of my main influences lyrically growing up. Alex Turner has such a unique relatable way of talking to the fans,  such honest language which has inspired a generation.

We’ve also been listening to a lot of Post Malone in the Studio. The simplicity and repetitiveness of the hip hop beats and a modern spin on guitar  melodies are massive. He’s become one of the biggest artists in the world over the past two years and you can clearly see why. There’s so many ideas you can draw from his music that inspire us to look at our own style from a different angle.

Is there a certain film that inspires you and why?
Talihina sky (kings of Leon Movie) I got this dvd for Christmas one year.. While watching this film I just had this feeling that took over me. I played the guitar and wrote songs at the time but I never showed anyone. I finished the movie and I was like I need to start a band!! That was the start of all of this really.

What city do you find the most inspiring?
I couldn’t give you one. Liverpool is where I’m from. This city is so rich in musical history we basically invented pop music. I went to the same school as Paul McCartney and grew up on the same road as John Lennon which is pretty mental.

London is where we all met. The city is buzzing every second of every day. Everywhere you look you get inspired.  There are so many insanely creative people everywhere so it’s such an amazing place to be living and doing what we love.

Who is the most inspiring person to you?
I’d have to say David Bowie, he was an absolute pioneer and huge influencer of his time. To be so different to everyone else, so individual and still dominate the scene for so long is something so inspiring you just can’t deny it. And his tunes are timeless. You can put any Bowie song on now, and everyone will sing every word.

How would you like to inspire people?
Anyone and everyone our music is written for everyone to enjoy. We just want to create a huge family of LONA’s who all come together at our shows and have the best night. If we can be the catalyst for friendships, Love, or even the next LONA that would be awesome.

LONA will be hitting the road this April, check out the dates below -
