Alae - 'Help You Now'

Alae send out an exasperated plea for communication on stylish new indie pop single, ‘Help You Now’.

New single ‘Help You Now’ sees Alae retain the emotion, atmosphere and sincerity as seen on their 2018 debut album Henry St., but the band trade in their rootsy indie folk sound for a more stylish retro indie pop groove. ‘Help You Now’ is led by lead singer Alex’s evocative vocal, that ranges from brooding and contemplative to powerless and impassioned as the song’s mantra is repeated, “how do I help you now?”. There’s also some gorgeous layered vocal harmonies that add another element of emotion to the track.

On the themes of the song, Alex explains, ‘Help You Now'‘is about facing your fears. It's about talking about what it is that's hurting you, what it is that's scaring you and allowing people to help. The lyrics are an attempt to normalize the process of opening up to others”. This is slow burning, relaxed indie pop that feels invigorating and reassuring. An exciting and fresh first look into Alae’s forthcoming second album.
