Social Contract - 'Hoist Their Heads'
Social Contract have returned to showcase another cut from their highly anticipated debut EP with their latest single, ‘Hoist Their Heads’.
This band was born of humble beginnings with Josh Eggerton and Scott Roach finding each other while looking for housing in London, before their desire to play live music meant that Bisque Wemyss and Chris Coward would make up the rest of Social Contract. The alternative four-piece quickly garnered a reputation for their ferocious live shows which quickly saw them picked up by JAWS to support them back in 2017.
Social Contract adopt a very similar sound to JAWS and the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club, but ‘Hoist Their Heads’ goes bold and fiery while delivering a political message. Eggerton takes a socio-political stance on the hardships people face of living in the city, and the hardship of working long hours for minimum wage and finding the purpose of doing so. ‘Hoist Their Heads’ is the best combination of being a track that makes you tap your foot but also makes you think, and only goes further to solidify the fact that Social Contract are one of the most exciting alternative bands out there right now.
