Festival Preview: Kendal Calling
With festival season now in full swing and excitement running high, Kendal Calling is just around the corner and it’s back this year with a belter of a line up.
Headliners are Manchester’s favourites Courteeners, funk icons Chic and Nile Rogers, Manic Street Preachers and the return of Doves, plus a special performance by the one and only Tom Jones. Other not to miss artists across the weekend include Years and Years, Miles Kane, Dream Wife, Sophie and the Giants, Mystery Jets, The Big Moon, Idles and Zuzu.
Exciting events across the weekend include the Soapbox comedy stage, which will be headlined by Josh Widdicombe, with many other comedians joining him across the weekend. 2019 also sees the return of Tim Peaks Diner, ran by the Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess, plus a set from the man himself.
The festival is part of the Keychange initiative, which is a pledge encouraging festivals and music organisations to achieve a 50:50 gender balance in lineups by 2022.
Kendal Calling is one of our favourite events on the festival calendar and it’s not to be missed! The family friendly, fun filled festival in the heart of the Lake District is bound to be a sell out.
Kendal Calling takes place 25th - 28th July 2019 at the Lowther Deer Park, Cumbria.
