Noah Gundersen - 'Lose You'

Noah Gundersen invites some of his musician friends to collaborate on emotive heartbreak single ‘,Lose You’, which is a vulnerable attempt at winning back an ex , taken from his potent new album ‘Lover’ out now via Cooking Vinyl.

Featuring Erik Walters (Silver Torches, Pedro the Lion), Eric Anderson (Cataldo) Harrison Whitford (Phoebe Bridgers), Sean Lane (Pedro the Lion) and Lerin Herzer, Noah Gundersen’s ‘Lose You’ opens as an atmospheric piano-led song seeing Gundersen stay close to his roots with his country inflected vocal and heartfelt singer-songwriter roots at the forefront, resonating deeply with his directness and sincerity.

The track soon breaks out of familiar country rock formula adding an upbeat kick to the track with playful, lo fi idiosyncratic 80s style beats and piercing, twangy americana-esque arrangements, adding a crunchy backdrop to the poppy vocal melody as Gundersen wholeheatedly laments, “I don’t wanna give you up, I don’t wanna lose you now”

On the track Gundersen explains, “I wrote this in an unapologetic attempt to get someone back. This is essentially my Lloyd Dobler at the window with Peter Gabriel on his boombox, desperately vulnerable in his trench coat and high tops. I love how many of my friends are on this track”.

’Lose You’ is taken from Gundersen’s new album ‘Lover’ which is comprised of thirteen intimate and formidable tracks of genre-bending, mood driven, music and was recorded over two years at Seattle’s The Crumb studio with longtime collaborator, producer/engineer Andy D. Park (Death Cab For Cutie, K. Flay, Pedro The Lion). There’s a dreamy, self-reflective ambience that underpins the album in its entirety but it reveals itself through different velocities, genre influences and densities, making for an exciting, explorative listen that warmly toys with organic and electronic textures to accentuate the different tones to Gundersen’s compelling vocal and the varying concepts behind each track.

A deeply personal album traversing through themes of love, failure, drugs, sex, age, regret and finding peace. ‘Lover’ enthusiastically burrows deep into the darker, lonelier and vulnerable sides of the psyche and offers a deft, strong and comforting hand that is more than willing to dig its way out of the abyss.
