Young London artist Lonnie Storey has just dropped his soulful new single ‘Found You’, he took a moment to talk to use in more depth about the track.

Your track 'Found You' is out now, what is the meaning behind the title?
It's about discovering that you fancy someone, finding them in that kinda way, you know? Foudya.

What is the inspiration behind the song?
Getting pied! Big time. I had a massive crush on my mate, and I told her one night when I was pissed. I think I'd spilled half my beer down my self and just blurted out 'oh my god, I'm so mental for you' I'm not that surprised she wasn't swept off her feet looking back, but I was pretty sore for a bit. Because we're mates, I felt quite comfortable just blurting it out, but in retrospect, I think I handled the situation pretty abruptly. But it's good to be honest though right? I wrote a draft of it that same night, and after crying/drooling into my notebook and it helped alleviate a lot of the pain.

Where was the track recorded? Are there any behind the scenes stories you are happy to share with us?
I recorded it at RYP studios with Michael Smith. One day on my way to the studio there was a massive rat down the road. It had been poisoned and was running round in circles. Not in a good way at all. On my way home it had given up and just died, it was well depressing. On a less grim note, the way we recorded the guitar solo was really fun. We stacked it eight times across three different octaves, to give it that big punch in the heart feel.

What do you hope your listeners take from the song?
Well, it is a sad old song, but I hope anyone who's ever been in the same boat can be like 'oh yeaaaaah' and think 'I've been in that hot mess of a situation before', but find it kind of comforting. I think people getting pied by their mates isn't too uncommon. I hope so anyway. Musically I like to think people will find it soothing and like a nice warm dream.

Now the track is out there, what next? What are your plans for the next few months?
More releases soon, and I'm heading back to the studio in a few weeks. I've got some shows lined up for the end of the year, but I'm not allowed to talk about them yet! Sorry, I feel like such a tease, they're gonna be real exciting though! Keep an eye out, I can't wait to bang on about them x

Lonnie Storey will be supporting Benee at Camden Assembly on the 15th of October for Communion.
