Paddy Mahon - 'Home'

Irish Independent Artist Paddy Mahon releases an immense rush of emotion on heartfelt single, ‘Home’, the follow up track to his touching debut, ‘Crossroads’.

Opening with deep melancholic indie rock vocals and brooding guitar and percussive arrangements, Mahon’s compelling vocal atmospherically straps its listener in for turbulent and fiercely honest account of reflection, longing and heartbreak. While ‘Home’ is a sombre affair it’s sophisticated both in its vocal delivery, mature lyrics and dynamics.

’Home’ alternates between dense yet fluid rhythms which offer some sense of spaciousness with laid back drum kicks, and big thunderous cinematic arrangements that move with a thudding, crashing intensity with, calling on an energy and electricity that follows real time relationship issues and the punch in the gut realisation that things might not work out the way you want them to.

Mahon’s heart-on-sleeve approach to songwriting leaves ego at the door as he taps into the very essence of male vulnerability with a swaggering, cinematic indie rock sound reminiscent of Kodaline. A promising introduction from an artist who is channeling a similar ethos and energy to contemporaries like Tom Walker and Lewis Capaldi who are currently blasting holes in the emotive pop scene.
