Amongst the wealth of music news that has come out in the dawn of the decade, one thing that has been consistently noted – and most definitely the elephant in the room –  is the lack of gender diversity in the industry. From the BRITs Week Together With 02 For War Child line-up to the iHeartRadio tour photography awards, things have been lacking in the equality department. Cue the ever-glorious 2000Trees to swoop in and lift our spirits with the timely announcement of their line-up for 2020.

Steadfastly becoming one of the most progressive of the smaller festivals: 2000Trees Festival in Upcote Farm, are being the change that we all want to see in the world of music. Giving new bands a platform to showcase themselves; welcoming musicians to play their stages time and time again in order nurture their talents; banning plastic and seeing a 6-tonne reduction in waste from the previous year; 2000Trees is good for the heart and the environment! And what a better place to spend a weekend in the summer, than in a forest listening to the hottest acts in the hardcore, punk and alternative scenes, as well as the world of comedy. It’s one big melange of good vibes.

In addition to previous news of headliners, Jimmy Eat World, 2000Trees have added a colossal 42 more names to the line-up. Joining festivities are the anarchic noise-punks Black Futures, Young Guns – who are celebrating the tenth anniversary of their debut album – Counterfeit, Kid Kapichi, Chapter and Verse, and Dinosaur Pile-Up who are no strangers to the festival. Most importantly, almost a third of the line-up includes women and non-binary musicians such as Creeper, Dream State, Nervus, Ithaca, False Advertising, Calva Louise and Dream State.

2000Trees takes place on 9-11 July and tickets go on sale Friday 24th January.
