Declan McKenna - 'Beautiful Faces'

Declan McKenna is making his return and is reaching out to the youth of today with his bold new anthem ‘Beautiful Faces’.

It feels like that McKenna has been around forever, with five years having already passed since the soloist hit it large with his debut single ‘Brazil’ which garnered him acclaim on both sides of the pond.

The 21-year-old has been working hard behind the scenes for the last two years, briefly emerging from the woodwork at the end of 2019 with the release of ‘British Bombs’ and a brief headline jaunt around the country.

McKenna is now fully prepared for the release for his second LP ‘Zeros’, and the guitarist continues to hold no punches as he holds society and the political powers to account. What has captured the minds of many when listening to McKenna’s music is his teenage curiosity and natural questioning of the powers at be.

That’s no different in ‘Beautiful Faces’ as how intimidating the modern world can be the youth of today, the song tackles beauty, social media and the ‘pandemic level’ of anxiety that we face, ‘Beautiful Faces’ is certainly the wakeup call we needed and Declan McKenna the generational artist we could all use right no.

Words by Danial Kennedy

‘Beautiful Faces’ is available now on all major platforms, his new album ‘Zeros’ is due for release on 15th May and Declan McKenna will play Ramsgate Music Hall on February 10th.
