Charli Adams shares first taste of her upcoming debut LP with pounding indie synth-rock single ‘Didn’t Make It’.

With sonic resemblance to St. Vincent and a-ha, the indie newcomer Charli Adams makes another sticking impression presenting her new single ‘Didn’t Make It’. The dreamy track is the first introduction to her upcoming debut LP ‘Bullseye’, set for release on 2021 via Color Study.

The US-based songwriter proves once more that this generation of up-and-coming young artists proudly draws inspiration from legendary acts. On the track, Charli sings, “But you were smoking through the day, and we were kids we broke the chain”, which very subtly incorporates a reference to Fleetwood Mac in a narrative that is very much owned by her.

Charli’s vivid storytelling not only pays tribute to the classics but also reflects on her personal experience as a young person navigating the complex world of relationships. Speaking of the track, she says, “I wrote Didn’t Make It’ about trying way too hard to be with someone and cutting your losses. When there’s memories and nostalgia tied to someone it’s hard to let go and accept it for what it is. I was stuck on a loop with this guy when we were 17 and we just kept fucking it up.”

Creating an intricate sound balancing delicate synths, soothing vocals and catchy hooks, Charli certainly leaves listeners craving more. With such a great introduction, the excitement for ‘Bullseye’ is as evident as the fact that Adams is a force to be reckoned with in alt-rock space.
