Inspired #170 - Hedda Mae
One of the newest pop starlets to come onto the scene - Hedda Mae, threw our heads into a spin of excitement with her highly infections debut EP ‘Introducing: Hedda Mae’. Her version of danceable pop leads down a path of her being the next 21st century pop star. She took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind her music.
Who are your top three musical inspirations?
That would be Bruno Mars, Anderson. Paak and Justin Timberlake. Mostly because they are incredibly talented musicians, and I find their music really fun and full of interesting details. They're all a vibe.
Is there a certain film that inspires you?
I'm not the type of person who watches a movie over and over, but I really like Forrest Gump. It does a great job of reminding you to appreciate things in life while you still have them, and I think everyone needs that kind of wakeup-call once in a while.
What city do you find the most inspiring?
I don't wanna be cheesy, but I think that would be my hometown Bergen. Though I have travelled to beautiful European cities, it is from Bergen I draw my inspirations from memories and nostalgia. Also, Bergen has the most beautiful mountains. And I like mountains. I'm not being paid to say this by the way.
Who is the most inspiring person to you?
My dad. I love the way he always focuses on the positives in his life. He has always encouraged me to do what makes me happy, and I realize how lucky I am to have such supportive parents.
What were your inspirations when writing the EP?
I wouldn't necessarily say that there's a cohesive storyline throughout the EP, I just wanted to really show my sound and personality by taking inspiration from my favorite artists. I love old music.
How would you like to inspire people?
My main goal is making people happy with my music. I want to give out a vibe that makes people feel something. I love to dance, and I want to inspire people to dance as well when they listen to my music.
