Bert Brett - 'Shame'
South London artist Bert Brett raises awareness about male mental health on swaggering indie rock single and music video, ‘Shame’.
Drawing from influences such as Arctic Monkeys, Jamie T, King Krule and Michael Kiwanuka, Bert Brett shares playful, attitude-fuelled indie with a gritty and raw hook on his current single, ‘Shame’. ‘Shame’ is a hypnotic, guitar-driven single that sees its melodies spontaneously switch from major to minor and cut between full and half-rhythms to keep its listener feeling thrilled by its intelligently crafted dynamics. Sometimes light, sometimes a little heavier, ‘Shame’ is a multi-mood song that delivers a hard hitting and emotionally charged narrative through breezy, contagious melodies.
’Shame’ is accompanied by a powerful music video which was shot in an abandoned London theatre and features HD moving portraits of fifteen men from all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities to highlight how anyone can be effected by mental health in some way or know someone who has. Brett is running a crowdfunding campaign around the video to raise money in support of the mental health charity, CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).
If you needed anymore reasons to look forward to 2021, Brett will be dropping new music every six weeks in early 2021 before starting work towards an album.
