Inspired #85 - Stumbleine
Electro artist Stumbleine has just released his single ‘Supermodels’, the newest track to be taken from his album ‘Sink Into The Ether’ which is due out in April. He took a moment to talk to us about all the things that inspire him.
Who are your top three musical inspirations?
Radiohead have always been my top inspiration, they have been omnipresent in my life. Kid A was an eyeopening album for me, they're always willing to go against the flow and create something fresh. The other two inspirations in the top three would probably be Boards of Canada and My Bloody Valentine.
Is there a certain film that inspires you?
One film I adore is Pan's Labyrinth, its got a real darkness to it. I love most horror and fantasy films and Pan's Labyrinth is the perfect combination of both. John Carpenter is also a massive influence, his films and scores are legendary.
What city do you find the most inspiring?
I've lived in London, Bristol and Montreal but I find my hometown of Worcester most inspiring as its where I grew up and where most of my life has been played out.
Who is the most inspiring person to you?
Probably Kurt Cobain, his passion for music was raw, he spoke about the darkness he saw with elegance and became a muse for an entire generation.
What were your inspirations when writing the track?
I just try to get a collection of consistent ideas down to slowly form an album, there are no deep hidden meanings behind any of my music. I enjoy the process of creating and mixing music more than I enjoy releasing it, I can get lost in it.
How would you like to inspire people?
I get a lot of messages about my music offering respite from a shit situation, thats not really my intent but its good to know it can have a small positive effect in a largely negative world.
