This week’s Artist Of The Week, is Italian singer / daydreamer Birthh, who has just released her album - ‘WHOA’. She took a moment to talk to us about life, Bob Dylan and about her new album.

So, your album ‘WHOA’ is out now, how does it feel?
It feels amazing, I’ve worked relentlessly on this album for almost two years, I’m so happy to be able to share it with the world.

Is there any meaning behind the title?
The whole album is based on the concept of surprise in everyday life, I am very easily astonished by things, when I interact with the world I feel like a little kid most of the time, that’s why I chose WHOA, I think it represents this feeling more than any other word I know.

What would you say are the key influences for the album?
The pretty things around me and the people I love were my biggest inspirations and influences for the album.

Music started very early for you, with your father having a big love for music, which artists did he introduce you to?
In his car we would listen to so many different types of music, Bob Dylan, the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack, the Chieftains, Genesis.

Do you feel those early moments of music have helped influence your style?
I think most of all they really taught me how to experience and appreciate music in a deeply immersive way.

The album closer ‘Space Dogs’ discusses a desire to escape, especially if a nuclear war starts. Was this album your form of escape?
It wasn’t at all, it was quite the opposite, I love being here on Earth and in many ways this album is a celebration of that.

Do you have a favorite lyric on the album? If so, which one and why?
Probably the last part in Yello/Concrete, not sure why I just like the pictures it paints in my head.

Now the album is out there, what next?
I wanna keep growing and releasing music, I have so many songs I’m ready to share with everyone and I’m super excited.
