Ahead of their headline show at London’s Moth Club, nu-disco duo Ekkah talk us through their latest single ‘Giving Up On’. The track is filled with funky baselines to definitely get the party started on a Friday evening.

So, ‘Giving Up On’ is out now, how does it feel to have it finally out in the world?
Amazing - we wrote this one a while ago and have been aching to get it out !

What is the track about? Where was in recorded?
The song is about not giving up, it’s kinda an advice song - even though things get bad, don’t give up on everything, no one has the answer to everything, no one knows the future, but you can be there for one another and tell each other that it’s gonna be OK. It was recorded in a studio in London, the same studio we recorded Figure it Out and Last Chance to Dance.

As a pair you grew up together, how did you actually meet? How old were you?
We met at school at 15 and have been best friends ever since (cute we know)

What is the first artist or band you can remember liking as a pair?
Fleetwood Mac

There is a lot of nu-disco and funk in your music, and it certainly gets people moving. What are your favourite songs to dance to?
Somebody Else’s Guy - Jocelyn Brown is our ultimate, it’s ‘our song’. Sing it Back - Moloko is always in our playlists.

Big show at Moth Club this Friday, what have you got planned for it?
That would be telling…
