Scott & Young - 'No Regrets'

Indie folk duo Scott & Young talk to us about their moving cinematic music video for their beautiful love ballad, ‘No Regrets’.

Where was the video filmed?
The whole video was shot in "De Pastorie" in Diemen, a beautiful old building with a perfect vintage look.

How does the video connect with the song?
The song is about two old lovers, who see each other again after 10 years.
It still feels safe and familiar and it makes them wonder if they made the right decision splitting up all those years ago.
The house kind of resembles the time they've shared together. Although they've parted they still feel each others presence.
The ambience of the house and the use of colours in the video really amplifies the melancholic mood of the song.

Do you have any behind the scenes stories you could share with us?
We had one afternoon for the shoot so we made a plan on forehand so we could work as efficiently as possible.
Only, when we arrived at the location, a lot of the shots were impossible to make, because of the mapping of the rooms in the house.
So eventually we had to improvise a lot, but it turned out great!
For the last shot of the day Lisanne had to take a bath. Unfortunately the only running water was downstairs in the kitchen so we had to walk up and down the stairs with buckets.
And sadly for Lisanne the kitchen only contained a very small boiler witch couldn't handle the amount of hot water we needed. So she ended up taking a cold bath, making it pretty hard to keep a straight face.

Can you tell us about the ideas/themes/imagery used?
Most of the ideas for the video come from Satellite June, who did all the filming. She did a really good job capturing the songs mood in her sober images.
She used only still shots with minimal movement which overall creates a kind of calmness and serenity.
The idea is that the two people in the video appear to be in the same house while actually they only live with the thought of the other.

Is there a message the video is trying to convey?
There's no deeper meaning or message. It adds a new dimension to the song which we hope will amplify the emotion people will feel when they are listening.
