Londoner Harry Mold has just released his riotous new single ‘Treadmill In A Desert’ via Touch Recordings. A track about the pressures you feel while in a stationary state of mind - despite being written before the current world crisis, the song couldn't be more relevant. Harry took a moment to talk about the inspirations behind the track.

Who are your top three musical inspirations?
I always loved Bowie’s music because it was borderless but always so beautifully connected with himself/his style. The grit of bands like Queens of the Stone Age and the Arctic Monkeys has always amazed me as well, love going a bit mad. Then I’ve also loved the indie sound of the 80s and 90s like The Stone Roses and New Order, that’s in my roots from a young age with my dad.

Is there a certain film that inspires you?
A film that really inspires me in terms of fashion Quadrophenia it really highlights a phase of British style that I love and find so impressive.

What city do you find the most inspiring?
I would have to say here in London, always been my favourite city because of that incomparable buzz you get there.

Who is the most inspiring person to you?
The most inspiring people to me are my parents hands down, just seeing them makes me want to do well and succeed and they’re both amazing people who have always done everything they can for me.

What were your inspirations when writing the track?
My inspiration was where I was mentally. I had sort of lost my flow and wasn’t moving on with anything. The inspiration to write Treadmill was how stagnant I felt and how bad the pressure was to get moving again.

How would you like to inspire people?
It’s really simple but my music has always given me a great release so I wanted to almost share that experience with any of my listeners. People really feed off energy and I think the rawness in the music I create will always speak to that mad side of a person.
