Dream Wife - 'Hasta La Vista'

Dream Wife effortlessly say goodbye to negative energy in stripped-back, zen track Hasta La Vista, their most pop-focused yet.

The tight wandering heavier punk riffs that fans are accustomed to take a back seat on the introspective track. Melodies and angelic vocals shine through, resulting in purer sounding pop-punk. Peppy drums and light riffs provide a clean base for singer Rakel to muse over all the ways to say goodbye and ditch everything that isn't serving you.  Cathartic repetitions of ‘goodbye now’, and ‘ciao’ in the chorus back up the core relaxed mantra of ‘hasta la vista baby’, reinforcing this message that things change and you should believe it's for the better. This reflective and appreciative tone stems from a wave of changes they encountered post a mammoth eighteen month, two-hundred show tour, as their return to London marked a breakdown and forming of close relationships. There’s a childlike quality to the track in terms of its innocent optimism and quick acceptance of change, which is also mirrored in the accompanying music video, compiled from childhood home footage.

Hasta La Vista also coincides with the release of the band’s new podcast’s first-ever episode.

Dream Wife’s second album So When You Gonna… will be released on July 3rd via Lucky Number. A tour is set to follow later in the year, but dates are yet to be announced.
