Introducing #130 - Trip 77
Let us introduce you to Trip 77, South London’s new lo-fi bedroom pop artist to keep your eyes on. He treats us to a strong debut with his track ‘Race Car Driver’, mixing a classic Fender guitar tone and making it his own. He took a moment to talk to us about his music.
So your debut track ‘Race Car Drive’ is out now, how does it feel?
I’ve always made music but most of it lays dormant on my computer so finally putting something out feels really good. Hopefully it’s the start of many!
What is the track about?
The track originated from playing around with a repetitive bass line and drum loop. Once I added some guitars the music evoked visions of a race car driver whizzing around the track pushing it to the max.
Can you tell us where the track was recorded?
The track was recorded in my flat in South East London.
Where are you from?
I’m from the Mighty Blackpool but live in London.
How would you describe your music genre?
Hazy Lazy lo-fi Bedroom Pop
Who would you say are your key music influences?
Stuff from the 60s/70s like Dylan and the Velvet Underground and more recent acts that played around with drum machines and synths like Suicide and Neu!
Now the track is out there, what next?
Just keep on keeping on with more recording and more releases!
