Sea of Fog - 'The Wanderer and the Outcast'
Sea of Fog finds peace in melancholia on soul-searching indie folk single, ‘The Wanderer and the Outcast’.
‘The Wanderer and the Outcast’ is taken from Sea of Fog’s current three-track EP, ‘Michael Collins Observes the First Moonwalk from the Columbia Module’ and it’s a beautiful cut that makes earthy, melancholic folk influences feel expansive in its airy and soothing vocal harmonies and light, instrumentation that keeps plodding forwards in search of something bigger than itself.
On the ideas behind the track, Sea of Fog explains:
”This song is about two people becoming more and more removed from each other within a relationship. The speakers move from the house to the woods to under the water to symbolise this progression. In many mythologies, the West Wind is a bringer of hope, peace, and good luck. For the two in this song, that period of the relationship is over and their spirits have left each other”.
'On ‘The Wanderer and the Outcast’ Sea of Fog dip their toes in pools of pure emotion to deliver a wholesome sound that channels a Simon and Garfunkel - ‘The Sound of Silence’ ethos with endless, timeless, charm.
