In Conversation With #077 - Full Colour
Rising indie-pop band Full Colour released their debut track ‘Times Change’ via Good Soldier at the start of this month - an injection of of sleek guitar riffs and energy. We had a chat with them about life and supporting Love Fame Tragedy.
How did you form as a band?
We came together when I (Conrad) realised that myself and Will’s collaborative project wouldn’t be able to play live shows without a band. So, I found Dillon on Instagram and when we were looking for a bassist, Dillon coincidentally went to school with Henry. We then recruited Alex around a month or two later when we decided we needed another guitarist.
What's been the most exciting thing to happen to Full Colour so far?
Probably either signing our record deal midway through our first ever tour or getting the news that we’d be going out on the road with Murph for a second time! 3. What is 'Times Change' about? ‘Times Change’ is about moving away from home and questioning whether the people you leave behind will acknowledge your absence. It’s essentially a collection of all those emotions that you feel when a relationship comes to an end but you’re in a powerless position, boiled down into three minutes.
What's your favourite lyric from 'Times Change'?
My personal favourite lyric is ‘Heaven knows I’ve lost it all’. It was originally written for another song that we released much earlier on as a band but I decided to recycle it for ‘Times Change’ as it seemed to cumulate a number of feelings and meanings that were relevant here and deliver them in just one line, which is what I strive for in songwriting.
Are you excited to be releasing your debut single?
It’s unbelievably exciting to be releasing our debut single under our label. It’s so refreshing to finally be able to release new music after quite a while!
What was the coolest thing you did on tour with Love Fame Tragedy? Did Murph have any advice for you?
Definitely playing on a boat! On the last night of tour we played a venue in Bristol called Thekla which is literally situated on a moored boat! If he had any advice for us it was quickly forgotten due to a combination of being awestruck and the large bottle of champagne he bought for us!
Who has been your favourite band to tour with?
It’s probably got to be either Love Fame Tragedy due to the sentiment behind touring with Murph and also the sheer size of the venues we played, or our mates Larkins. 8. Who would you like to collaborate with in future? I’d absolutely love to work with Jack Antonoff when the time’s right - his band Bleachers are incredible and he’s just an amazing songwriter and producer. Also Clairo, I’d love to work on a track with her at some point. 9. What's next for Full Colour? What’s next is more music over the coming months and hopefully when we’re out of this situation lots and lots more touring!
