The Artist Explains: Ghita - 'On My Mind'
Ghita speaks to us about filming in Morocco for her expressive, self-directed music video, ‘On My Mind’ which is all about good vibes, being yourself and believing in your dreams.
Where was the video for ‘On My Mind' filmed?
in Marrakech and Casablanca, Morocco
How does the video connect with the song?
well that song is one of my only song that’s not a ‘’love song”. It’s really about me and what i was feeling inside when i wrote it and so the first idea that came to my mind when i decided to make a video for the song was to film it back home. i think it represents well who i am and it helps understand a little more of my origins, my style and my energy.
Do you have any behind the scenes stories you could share with us?
It was full of surprises. definitely things i will remember… one thing that was crazy to me and totally unexpected was when we filmed the market scene at night. I wasn’t expecting to have a crowd watching the whole time we were filming, at the end of the first try, everyone was clapping like if i was having an actual concert with the most supporting crowd…
Can you tell us about the ideas/themes/imagery used?
ideas was honestly just me trying to be me but also make it a little more fun and out of the box as i would be in real life. I love contrasts so i wanted to mix super modern designer clothes and being super high fashion in traditional Morocco and kind of have that clash pop and make people want to travel there. I guess exotic is how i would describe myself and what i wanted to portray that in the video.
Is there a message the video is trying to convey?
Yes. i think the intro of the video makes you understand the song a little better… I wanted to make a video with bunch of girls because i find it powerful. I dance in this video for the first time of my life because i thought it would help me express myself better. It’s really all about good vibes, be yourself and believe in your dreams.
