Utah based artist Goldmyth is perfect in every way when it comes to her lo-fi bedroom jams. With the unique blend of being a harpist combined with melancholy pop songs - she puts herself out there as one of our top names to check out this year. Goldmyth took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind new track ‘My Mistake’.

Who are your top three musical inspirations?
I didn't grow up with a family that listened to music much at all, so my inspirations came later in life. I listened to so much Sufjan Stevens through high school, and his lyrics and melodies are permanently locked into my brain. Another is Joni Mitchell, because of the way she describes herself and the world and has this lifelong career on her own terms. Whatever this means, I listened to a lot of Death Cab for Cutie growing up, I think they're somewhere in my psyche.

Is there a certain film that inspires you?
I really love TV shows, and I think I'm most inspired by this long form of development. I'm a big fan of Twin Peaks, and also the newer netflix series Dark is a whole melancholy mysterious vibe that has been super intriguing to me.

What city do you find the most inspiring?
I think LA, as cliche as it is, is inspiring just because it feels like anything can happen at any moment.

Who is the most inspiring person to you?
Right now I'm trying to look for inspiration in myself instead of looking outwardly too much. It's an interesting counterbalance just because we see everyone doing everything right in front of us.

What were your inspirations when writing the track?
When I wrote this new song, I was reflecting on a summer I broke off a long relationship and moved to LA with no connections and a hectic music assistant job. The distance and fresh start was the best gift I could have given myself. To be so far away when the aftermath ensued allowed me to shift my perspective on what I thought were my mistakes, that really had nothing to do with me. I’ve been learning to take my humanity, my flaws, and the mistakes I have made, and let them be part of my music and what makes me who I am.

How would you like to inspire people?
I want everyone that listens to my music to feel like who they are is cool and enough.
