Powerhouse vocalist Valerie shares vibrant new single ‘Lockdown’.

‘Lockdown’ is a lady. Wrapped in an aura of melancholy, she dresses in velvety robes of disarming vocals and the glamorous makeup of flawlessly sensual melodies. Bright piano lines and a beautifully polished production make the track sparkle with star power as Valerie lets her stunning vocals roam freely. The song talks about “the experience of being stuck in the amorous cage of a non-committal lover.” But though emotional, there is no weakness to be found here. Instead, there is a mature kind of clarity, a stubborn resilience to Valerie’s lyricism that shines brightest in a defiant chorus – “It only took a lockdown for you to come back around. It only took a countdown for you to figure it out. […] Why’d it take a lockdown? Shouldn’t take a lockdown.”

‘Lockdown’ feels larger than life. It’s not hard to imagine packed out venues swaying along to its layers and layers of gorgeous harmonies. It may have taken a lockdown for the world to wake up to her talent, but it only takes one song to know that Valerie is impossible to forget.
