Track By Track: St Lundi - 'Heavy Words'
Twenty-three year old artist St Lundi has just released his debut EP ‘Heavy Words’ via Propeller Recordings. He took a moment to talk to us about the release - track by track.
You've Got The Wrong Guy
Whilst watching a TV show - where the main character was wrongly imprisoned - I started thinking about unrequited love within a relationship and how gut wrenching it can be. The song represents that moment where you realise you need to walk away or remain love’s prisoner, so to speak.
Learn To Let Go
I feel like sometimes when falling in love it’s natural to want to spend every minute with one another. But there comes a point in time where you need to take a step back and remember the world still exists around you. It can make you feel like you’re moving in the wrong direction for a moment but you know deep down you need to ‘Learn To Let Go’ for the relationship to last.
Ruin
Miscommunication can often lead to confusion. This song is a take on how two people in love are on the brink of breaking down as a result of not doing something that seems so simple to most, talking. This story represents the moment of realisation when one pleads with the other to speak about the troubles they both face or risk letting what they have built go to ruin.
Heavy Words
‘Heavy Words’ was written from the perspective of someone who feels as though their relationship is on the brink of breaking down as they know their partner is holding onto the words they don’t want to hear, words that could end everything. Accepting this is never easy but the only way to get through it is by talking with one another. This song takes you on that journey of realisation.
Parachute
Parachute is about the fear of falling in love and getting hurt, something I feel a lot of people experience. We all want love but the fear of it going wrong can make us refrain from giving everything we have. When I wrote this song I had the image of someone falling through the sky (falling in love) and then pulling their parachute at the last minute to get away from it.
