Cat Ryan - 'Blessed Through The TV'
Newcastle-based Art-Gaze trio Cat Ryan share infectious new single ‘Blessed Through The TV’.
Cat Ryan are well and truly one of a kind. Combining an oriental instrumental backdrop with modern art-pop elements, they create a uniquely quirky brand of music. A perfect mix of bouncy beats and clever rhythms is joined by Mary-Anne’s recognisable vocals for the ultimate upbeat summer sound.
As Mary-Anne explains, the track “deals with the theme of half-heartedness; the limbo between abandonment and commitment.” But there is nothing half-hearted about Cat Ryan’s vivid lyricism that draws on personal experiences: “The Pope had done a mass blessing through the television, telling people to hold items up to the tv to be blessed. It didn’t quite make sense to me; it was almost a half-hearted blessing, and this sparked the ideas behind the song.”
