Bamily – 'We Used To Hang Out'
Indie-pop four-piece Bamily share new single ‘We Used To Hang Out’ – a dreamy tune that “centres around the feelings of loneliness and uncertainty that were triggered by lockdown.”
‘We Used To Hang Out’ is another lush example of the Bamily sound. Fusing elements of pop, hip-hop, indie and disco they create joyous soundscapes and take DIY to a whole new level. Laid back beats and smooth rhythms instantly lift moods as sleek guitar lines slide across polished basslines. A vibrant production that is somewhat at odds with the song’s theme of loneliness. "I wrote we used to hang out at the start of lockdown,” band member Louis explains. “I was feeling sort of emotional about not being able to see my pals and knew that I had to capture this strange feeling that the world was ending and put it in a song. As I was writing, my mind kept drifting back to the girl I had just finished seeing before the virus came. I knew that I wouldn’t see her for at least a few months now, and that these feelings of distance from her, combined with the impending doom of the apocalypse would now be what journalists kept calling ‘the new normal’. The feeling of isolation and distance from a specific person is one I’m sure many people can relate to from the mayhem of the last five months.”
With their eclectic take on sound, Bamily have already set themselves apart as one of the UK’s most exciting talents. ‘We Used To Hang Out’ further solidifies that notion. Their ecstatic brand of music is not only a summer-time-essential, it gives you something to look forward to: Vibing to their live sets once we’ve established a new normal.
