Laura Fell – 'Bone of Contention'
Alt-Folk artist Laura Fell announces debut album ‘Safe from Me’ alongside stunning lead single ‘Bone of Contention’.
‘Bone of Contention’ lives in a sphere of bluesy folk. Soft guitars build into an array of sweeping strings and swaying percussions as Laura’s warm, soulful vocals sing wistful tales of holding grudges. An old soul with a tender heart, the song shines with a captivating sense of elegance that seeps into her introspective lyricism. “Bone of contention is an exercise in anger, really,” Laura says. “I’ve always struggled to feel anger without also feeling out of control, and therefore disempowered. What this song is about is allowing myself to sit with my anger and ending up finding clarity and power within it.”
Proud and strong in its delicate nature, ‘Bone of Contention’ is the first of many intricately arranged pieces that Laura Fell shares on her debut album ‘Safe from Me’. A record that, in its essence, is “a search for answers from a woman always expected to have them to hand, and the self-punishing frustration that assumption brings.”
