WILD - 'Goin’ Back' (feat. Zac Barnett)
LA trio WILD team up with American Authors frontman Zac Barnett on rousing indie pop single, ‘Goin’ Back’.
WILD push forward with their familiar anthemic indie folk pop sound on ‘Goin’ Back’, but this one’s a little rockier and grittier with a fuzzy ambience on the more minimal parts of the track. Plus there’s the thrill of Zac Barnett sharing vocal duties with WILD’s vocalist Lauren Luiz.
“It’s about feeling disconnected from where you come from,” explains Luiz. “Even when you go back, you’re out of place. It’s about the journey you’re taking to feel present and be at home wherever you are. In some ways, it encapsulates an overarching theme for us. We’re talking about friendships, where we live, who our family is, what we’ve been through, and the things that have gotten us to where we are now. We’re showing appreciation and trying to grow.”
’Goin’ Back’ is full of punch in the gut emotion and euphoria at the prospective of discarding your burdens, “I’m leaving all my troubles underneath my feet, I’m feeling stronger now that I have grown” and going back to a place where you fit in with confidence, “Like a ship at sea, where am I going, back to where I belong, back to where I belong”. Lovely stuff!
