Atlanta based artist Dwn2earth has just released his debut album ‘Atlantis’ - a beautifully crafted piece of work that cuts deep in showcasing this rising star’s growing talent. He took a moment to talk to us about his inspirations.

Who are your top three musical inspirations?
Prince, Sade, and Quincy Jones. Prince because he was unapologetically himself. He wasn’t afraid to jump out of the box for his art. He played every instrument. He was an entertainer. He didn’t let society's boundaries dictate how he moved, or his fashion, or anything about him. He was himself and I appreciate that as a fan of the craft. I love Sade because her music is so peaceful, it's almost like meditation. Her voice is so healing, I love the smoothness of the music. When I sing I want to be able to give that tingly feeling she gives to me to the world. Her tone of voice is ethereal. Quincy Jones, now I consider myself a producer first, so any producer in the world will agree that Quincy Jones is the person you aspire to be as far as production. He is an example of who I aspire to be as a composer. He is an extraordinary band director. He scores movies with his music, which I eventually plan to do. He produced one of the greatest albums of all time. I can go on and on about how great Quincy Jones is, but he is definitely a big influence as far as longevity, talent and Iconic music.

Is there a certain film that inspires you?
Scarface shows a guy who came from nothing, turns it into something. From several adversity, he was backed into the corner, it was like the perfect story of a come up. It shows that if you stay resilient and keep faith, you can make something out of nothing. It’s a true story of an underdog and that's how I feel right now.

What city do you find the most inspiring?
Los Angeles because I feel more of the scenery helps me feel free to do what I want. I am a big nature guy, so it has a lot of places full of nature where I can just go relax and chill including the beaches. It’s like an environment for creatives, like a creative college is how I look at it.

Who is the most inspiring person to you?
I inspire myself lowkey. And I know it sounds egotistical but once I break down my true story, you will understand why. To be honest I haven’t really found a lot of inspiration in the world. Even for me, something as small as exercising no one is inspiring me to do it, so I have to inspire myself. I want to get better at playing the piano and get better at singing, and no one is inspiring me, so I inspire myself lowkey.

What were your inspirations when writing the track?
Adversity is a huge inspiration. The fact that it was hard to even record that track, made me want to get it done even more.

How would you like to inspire people?
I would like to inspire people to love themself, take pride in themselves, and trust themselves. Self love, self respect, knowledge of self. I just want people to be one with themselves. Love for yourself is valuable for self. I think self love could be a remedy to  depression and anxiety.
