Kinships - 'Space Forms'
Indie electronic three-piece Kinships span multi-genres on moving single, ‘Space Forms’ taken from the band’s new 5-track EP, ‘Shapeshifter’ which is out now.
’Space Forms’ opens gently with a sparse finger-picked guitar melody and an ethereal, hushed vocal that reminded me a lot of Haux’s ethos. As the track develops Kinships envelop their listener in a crafty web of organic and electronic textures, seeing the track crawl with a visceral, ambient energy that is sometimes cosmic, dark and experimental, sometimes familiar and always excellent.
In terms of inspirations, ‘Space Forms’ is about “the turbulent birth of Tom's niece and parenthood. It's a song about how parenthood immediately shapes you and the beauty and sacrifice that comes with it.” ’Space Forms’ is a beautiful rush of emotion and affecting explorative sounds that crescendos into pure, cathartic bliss.
