Dior, Versace and LV model turned musician Andreww has just released his latest track ‘Medusa’ - blending grunge with hip-hop beats this new single certainly pushes the boundaries when it comes to genre. He took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind his music.

Who are your top three musical inspirations?
It changes all the time but atm I’m going through a Johnny Marr phase. He’s such a revolutionary. In the song “shoplifters of the world unite” by The Smiths he basically plays a metal solo and it blows my mind.
Tom morello,  Billy Corgan, Jack White, Dan Auerbach just to name a few players are ever rotating.
And I’m listening to a lot of The Cranberries these days. The late great dolores o'riordan had such a beautiful, fragile but determined voice that really inspires me.

Is there a certain film that inspires you?
My favorite film is the crow with Brandon Lee. Everything from the art direction to the music is perfect and I draw a lot of inspiration from it. Anything Tim Burton gets me going aswell. The sinister but childlike characters really make me feel something.
Don’t know why I’m so into Skills, ghosts, the boogieman etc but I love encorporating old scary myths into my work.

What city do you find the most inspiring?
There’s so many. I find different cities bring different moods and energies that I can take away and add to a big spectrum that they all end up creating in me. I’ve lived in New York, Paris, Milan and now I’m in London. But Tokyo still blows my mind every time I’m there! Their history with rock music is amazing and Japanese people are knowlagable. There’s a bar in shibuya I love to go to where you can write songs you want to hear on a piece of paper and give it to the waiter and they play the vinyl for you. They pretty much have almost every song I’ve ever passed in!

Who is the most inspiring person to you?
To be honest my friends are my biggest inspiration. Obviously I have a lot that work in the fashion industry and a lot of musicians but most of my friends from home have absolutely nothing to do with what I do. They don’t care tbh and I love that. I learn so much from them.

What were your inspirations when writing your new track?
I wrote the song whilst I was cutting ties with a lot of toxic people in my life. The story of Medusa kind of reminded me of that. People would turn to stone if they looked at her but couldn’t help themselves and still did it. Same with toxic relationships. You know there not good for you but for some reason you still end up being in them longer than you want to.

How would you like to inspire people?
I sometimes feel that people think it’s cool to not care or not be interested. I love learning and am very passionate about the things I do and will show that to anybody I meet. I hope I can show that caring, being vocal about how you feel about things and being a nerd (obsessing about your passion) is cool!
