Jessie Reid - 'Home'

Shropshire born singer-songwriter Jessie Reid craves ‘Home’ on comforting, new indie folk release

‘Home’ opens with gentle and tranquil fingerpicking, seeing the track channel a familiar, cinematic melody that instantly fills the song with warmth. Jessie’s voice joins her intricate guitarwork with a soothing, hushed, vulnerability, reminiscent of Lucy Rose, instantly setting her listener at ease.

‘Home’ is a spacious song, warm, unrushed, composed and well considered, almost making it easy to forget the sense of yearning, loss and sorrow that haunts the track’s lyrical theme as Jessie soulfully confides: It’s colder than it’s ever been before, those photographs that once stood pride of place stand no more’.

As the track develops, it fleshes out with upbeat rousing traditional meets contemporary, folk-influenced climax, including beautiful layered vocal samples, seeing Reid’s sound shy away from the intimate singer-songwriter style that drives the track, to grow into a life-affirming celebration of vibrant sounds as Reid breezily repeats the hopeful mantra, ‘take me home’. It’s that little bit of sunshine keeping the chills of autumn at bay.
