Kings Elliot – 'Bitter Tonic'

Grab a flashlight! Rising singer-songwriter Kings Elliot takes you on a journey into the darkest corners of her mind on new single ‘Bitter Tonic’.

Slow moving and heartfelt, ‘Bitter Tonic’ is a devastatingly beautiful ballad that finds Kings Elliot battling her demons. “‘Bitter Tonic’ is about self-sabotage, self-hatred, self-destruction… all the things I’ve always felt too uncomfortable to talk about,” she explains. Wrapped into a blanket of piano-led melancholy, Kings Elliot’s crystalline vocals break your heart one lyric at a time as she shares her most vulnerable moments. Talking further about the track, she adds: ”’The bitter tonic is mine’ is the idea of desperately clinging onto my pain, defiantly refusing any help, because at my lowest it’s all I possess, all I have control over.” 

Following previous singles ‘I’m Getting Tired Of Me’ and ‘Dancing Alone’, ‘Bitter Tonic’ further cements Kings Elliot’s heart-on-sleeve approach to music. Using her art as a cathartic outlet for her own struggles as well as a bridge to her audience, Kings Elliot shows that bravery and vulnerability go hand in hand.
