Tigercub - 'Stop Beating on My Heart (Like a Bass Drum)'
There’s a grant and thumping sound, there is anger and a fiery passion that can not be contained. And it all erupts in Tigercub’s latest single and video ‘Stop Beating on My Heart (Like a Bass Drum)’.
The experimental sound of Tigercub is never really the same and with every listen evolves into something new. Their blend of electro pop and soulful rock is the perfect blend to support and elevate his emotive vocals. “'Like A Bass Drum' is part of a series of songs from 'As Blue As Indigo' that introspectively searches for the meaning in sadness and melancholy. It draws on the subjectivity of colour to paint metaphors and help me interrogate myself further.”
The explosive sound of ‘Stop Beating on My Heart (Like a Bass Drum)’ is a perfect translation of the feelings of not being able to show any emotion and to never seem weak as a male in modern society. Both sound and underlying meaning erupt in grand sounds and something we can no longer ignore nor deny. “Sometimes, It feels like my own abject masculinity is the thing that holds me back from happiness.”
The accompanying video is as eruptive as the sound of the single and shows artsy visuals with psychedelic 70’s inspired filters, alternating with live shots of the bands which instantly makes me crave for a good old, banging live show and I have just added Tigercub to my live show wish list!
