Charli Adams ft Ruston Kelly - 'Headspace'
Charli Adams continues to take the alt-rock scene by storm with her new cinematic coming-of-age ‘Headspace’ ft. Ruston Kelly.
With almost 70k songs being uploaded to streaming services every day, it is pretty damn hard to cut through the noise and make people pay attention to your music. This is certainly a challenge that indie darling Charli Adams not only overcame but totally smashed with her first few songs. Not only did she manage be noticed by huge names in the industry like Justin Vernon (who indirectly ended up naming Adams’ upcoming EP) but she also successfully connected with a generation through beautifully curated indie masterpieces that draw from iconic inspirations like Fleetwood Mac. This time around, she showcases a new facade of her artistry as she collaborates with Country/Alternative legend Ruston Kelly in new dreamy duet ‘Headspace’.
As Charli explains, “‘Headspace' is about being so in love with someone that it physically hurts really bad”. This message not only comes across in the incredibly heartfelt and honest songwriting that takes the listener down memory lane but also through the timeless drums that delicately generate the perfect atmosphere for wondrous guitars riffs and majestic piano progressions to compliment both of their voices.
Having such an experienced musician as Kelly in the track could be a double edged sword for an up-and-coming artists trying to prove themselves to a new audience, however, Adams possesses such a seasoned way of writing and vocally performing every verse, it is beyond clear she was meant to do this. Undoubtedly, Adams is more than ready to rub shoulders with great talents.
Mixed by Patrick Dillett (St. Vincent, Sufjan Stevens) and produced by Dan Agee, the new track opens another window into Charli’s world and leaves us craving for more. With a whole EP coming our way on July 16th, we can only expect this extraordinary talent to keep blowing our minds with every release as she steps into greatness.
