Inspired #253 - EXTRAS — When The Horn Blows

Burton-based EXTRAS return with their new single Previous Scene. We caught up with the band to find out what inspires both them and their music.

What are your top three musical inspirations?

The Beatles, Paul Weller, The Smiths

Is there a certain film that inspires you?

Forest Gump, the music is great, it’s funny and shows a lot about America’s history, cracking film.

What city do you find the most inspiring ?

I’d have to say London, just because all the big names either came from there or ended up living and knocking about there, all of it’s history is interesting and all the chaos of London is exciting.

Who is the most inspiring person to you?

There’s quite a few I could choose, but I’m going to say Damon Albarn. I admire his work rate and how many good songs he’s written in different bands

and projects.

What were your inspirations when writing your new track?

Alex Turner, especially because of his latest work with Arctic Monkeys and their concept album TBH&C. I wanted to write a song about something in particular and relate it to something popular, like a love story in the theatre.

How would you like to inspire people?

I want to write songs that people will connect with and love, and hopefully inspire people to one day write some songs, like The Beatles and other bands did for me.
