Dady - 'Dark Mode'
New York-based duo Dady shares shimmery, laid-back indie pop on their first single of the year, ‘Dark Mode’.
Dady is the project of Rachel Dady and producer Jesse O’Connor who have made their first mark on 2021 with current single, ‘Dark Mode’. Despite the moodier connotations in the title, ‘Dark Mode’ is a light and breezing offering full of quirks. Propelled by a poppy vocal melody, the track combines dreamy, washed out vocals that would appeal to fans of The 1975 or The Japanese House, with woozy synth and niggling guitar motifs. There’s a tight crunch to a crisp drum beat on the track that gives the track a nice edge, and Dady have a great ear for pairing harsher, shoegaze guitar sounds, with light and floaty melodies.
‘Dark Mode’ is infectious indie pop with an easy-listening, confessional heart, from an outfit who isn’t afraid to cross-genres and go wherever the groove takes them.
