Luna Morgenstern - 'Done'

Luna Morgenstern turns in an excellent universal three-pop pop song with new single ‘Done’.

It’s Luna’s second single from debut EP ‘Taking The Blow’, following the pandemic-inspired ‘In My Head’. ‘Done’ is an open letter to her father following a fight over her ambition to be a solo artist.

The track begins with an emotional opening, and Luna’s track takes you on a journey into the world of her melancholy – and subsequently breaking free from it.

The euphoric chorus will get into your head. While it might not be your exact story, it’s a relatable moment which punches a hefty weight with its hooky topline. When she sings “long done hoping you’d approve”, it questions how anyone ever doubted her in the first place.

The track is powerful pop with a heart and a message. When Luna sings “I will take it on, I will prove you wrong”, you know that she is proving she made the right call right now, with this very song.

Luna’s background in engineering and production comes alive in the sound of ‘Done’. She’s well aware female artists aren’t usually tagged for their work behind the scenes, but this track should inspire other women eager to break away from being seen as just vocalists and front people.

The track follows in the influential footsteps of other forward thinkers in music – think SOPHIE, or the electronic pop of Charli XCX or Sigrid. But it also shines a light on her independence, and the heights that alt-pop can scale.

And we’re not even ‘Done’ with Luna yet – indeed, it leaves high hopes for July’s EP.
