Inspired #285 - Nonô
Nonô takes her freedom back with powerful new single ‘Honest’ - filled with Brazilian big pop hooks. It provides the perfect introduction to her debut EP ‘Midnight Mimosas, which is also out now. Fresh from announcing the new date for her London live show at the Grace on the 29th September, she Nonô took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind her music.
Who are your top three musical inspirations and why?
I feel like my top three changes constantly, depends on the week and what style of music I want to create haha but I think a solid one is Rihanna, Kali Uchis and Nathy Pelisse
Is there a certain film that inspires you and why?
Legally Blonde because Elle Woods is an absolute boss. It’s one of those movies that I grew up watching and just seeing a strong female in control is the best.
What city do you find the most inspiring and why?
I absolutely love São Paulo, Miami and of course, London - they are such vibrant cities and with so many different personalities. The contrasts in the mixture of cultures is extremely inspiring.
Who is the most inspiring person to you and why?
My mom because she’s the strongest person I know. Taught me how to fight for all my dreams and for the things I believe.
What were your inspirations when writing your new track?
All my songs are written based on real life experiences. My inspiration for my newest single, HONEST, was a bad relationship where I felt powerless and just wanted to re-claim my control. It’s about reminding yourself that no one can make you feel bad for you wanting to do whatever you want to do.
How would you like to inspire people?
I just want to inspire people from across the world that it doesn’t matter where you’re from, who you are or your age, as long as you work hard for it, you can make any dream or wishes come true.
