Robert Taira Wilson - 'Blackbird'

English singer-songwriter Robert Taira Wilson shares poignant indie folk on current single, ‘Blackbird’

Mellow, nimble-fingered guitar work and exposed, emotive vocals are the foundation of Robert Taira Wilson’s 'Blackbird’. This is an intimate and aching song that sees Robert take his listener through thought-provoking, poetic storytelling with a blackbird becoming his closest confidante in trying times: ‘Hey Blackbird, show me a way, you don’t know these boarders, so carry me out of here.

The video is accompanied by a brilliant animated music video that Robert designed himself during lockdown. Robert says, ‘When lockdown came around last year, I sat down at my desk and started drawing. Then I couldn’t stop. Hours and hours each day I drew, and the pictures stacked up. Finally, after a year, I had made enough pictures to make a 3 minute animation.’

‘Blackbird’ is a touching song that highlights the feeling of loneliness being a palpable universal emotion and reinforces that hope can be found in the most unexpected of places.
