Pip Blom - 'You Don't Want This'
Amsterdam’s pride and joy, rising alternative rock outfit Pip Blom are back with a new single and video for ‘You Don’t Want This’! It is yet another representation of their refined and telling sound, open-hearted and unadorned.
About the video accompanying the single, video-director Sara Elzinga said: “When I first heard ‘You Don't Want This’, I recognized the feeling of self-consciousness; knowing that people have a certain way of looking at you, that does not necessarily comply with the image you have of yourself. Though rather than making a music video about anxiety, I wanted the video to be about self-acceptance. Smiling back at yourself, instead of constantly criticizing which is something people tend to do.”
The band have been building their path and sound since their first release in 2016 and have succeeded in getting the attention from the likes of DIY, Pitchfork and Rolling Stone to name a few. ‘You Don’t Want This’ builds on that established sound, being an upbeat and guitar-driven track with Pip’s stark vocals in the spotlight, supported by powerful harmonies. Those harmonies remind us of the sound of an audience singing along while bouncing around a festival tent which made us long for a Pip Blom live gig. And we’re in luck, because the band have recently announced a UK headline tour in February 2022 and were confirmed as part of the National Lottery’s Revive Live Tour which is taking place next month!
‘You Don’t Want This’ is a passionate, vigorous and riffing track and the latest from their forthcoming second album, ‘Welcome Break’, which is due for release on Heavenly Recordings on the 8th of October this year.
