Helaine Vis - 'Ice'

Polish artist Helaine Vis shows off her uniquely delicate voice with new single ‘Ice’. 

Offering a soft but icey take on R&B, Helaine pulls off a raw ambient sound while telling the tale of heartbreak. The subtle delivery of it portrays how delicate love is, and like ice - it can break at any moment. The combination of the production and Vis’ timeless vocals leaves listeners wanting more. 

“Lyrically I used the two similar sounding words “ice” and “eyes”. I love double meanings and word play. “I saw ice in his eyes, now it’s melting” refers to me seeing a man I care about just after hurting him. At first, his gaze was frigid and strong. Then the ice melted and turned into tears. I was paralyzed seeing him like that. There are so many songs about heartbreak and the pain it causes its victims but the perspective of the heartbreaker is often overlooked. It can be just as painful to deliver this blow as to receive it. Often there are no winners when love comes to an end.”  says Helaine. 

“Ice” is the third single from Helaine Vis's debut album “Pretty Cliché” a truly autobiographical record that leads listeners on a fraught yet empowering journey through the last years of her life. The 10 songs cover heartache, struggles with mental health and the rocky road to finding her own identity.
