The Slow Reader's Club - 'Tell No Lies'
Nothing screams grand and cinematic sound like The Slow Readers Club. The band are back with their new single and video for ‘Tell No Lies’, Its dramatic soundscape and warm vocals make for a welcoming new track.
It is The Slow Readers Club through and through, with an exciting festival-like vibe and strong, filmy effects, ‘Tell No Lies’ is another telling track to add to our party playlists. The Manchester-based band just released their possibly most anthemic track to date, sounding like a synth-driven anthem which will be followed by a UK headline tour kicking off on the 25th of September at the Foundry in Sheffield.
The video for the single features Line of Duty star Craig Parkinson aka DI Matthew ‘Dot’ Cottan, who plays the extravagant faith healer who meets his match when he encounters Starkie. The two met at an unlikely meeting at Kendal Calling, got chatting on Twitter and from one thing came another; the video for ‘Tell No Lies’.
About the track itself, lead singer Arron Starkie says: “The song is about music’s ability to transport you somewhere else and take away your anxieties for 3 minutes or so. Lyrically it’s a bit of a conscious departure from our more introspective, existential, doom-laden stuff that we are known for. Feels like the world needs upbeat tunes now, as real life has been bleak enough.” And ‘Tell No Lies’ does just that; transporting us to a different time and place, one filled with warm musical tones and like-minded souls that are all bouncing along to the music as if they are one body.
