With an artistry built entire only being DIY - he produces, writes and plays everything himself - Wolf has built a reputation as a must-see live act. Performing at venues like Scala and the Social and alongside artists like AURORA and yahyel. He took a moment to talk to us about how the EP came together.

Hey Dominic - how are you? So your EP is out now, how does it feel to have it out there in the world?
Hey! I’m well thank you! Really pleased to have these songs out, it’s been a long time coming!

It is titled ‘Fool’ - can you tell us the meaning behind that?
I think the idea of calling the EP “Fool” came when I first started working on the EP. The world had just shut down and I felt like a bit of a fool trying to put an EP together when it would have probably been wiser to focus a bit more on how I was going to make it through the next few months.

Where was it recorded? Any behind the scenes stories from the creative process you are happy to share with us?
95% of the EP was recorded in my home studio in East London, I did record some of the vocals for “Junebug” and “Fool” in another studio with a real vocal booth but that’s about it.
For the track “Fool” I actually started the production during a trip to Italy, I came up with most of the instrumental for the chorus in the back of a car going from Venice to a small beach town in Tuscany and then added the guitars and vocals back home in London.
For “Where You Are” I started chopping loads of synth samples to come up with the progression you can first hear at the end of the first verse and before the drop. I built the whole rest of the track around it. As for Junebug, I started the production while I was in bed recovering from the first shot of the Covid vaccine which actually knocked me out for a few days!

What are the key themes and influences on the EP?
Loss, love, hope and growing up.

Do you have a favourite lyric on the EP? If so, which one and why?
“I remember the golden days, hiding out with you” from “Where You Are” - It reminds me of a very carefree and happy period of my life. I also really like how that vocal comes in with the harmonies.
