Let us introduce you to Manchester punks Supera Morza, who just released their second single ‘Roadkill’ and who took a moment to talk to us about their music.

You are based out of Manchester, UK. Can you tell us your favourite things to do there?

Obviously there’s not been much to do around Bolton and Manchester over lockdown but more recently things have opened up and there’s the buzz back like there was before. Great places to walk like Rivington in Bolton which isn’t far from where jack and josh live in Bolton, there’s some really nice new bars that have opened up and restaurants, and obviously the venues are back so Manchester’s insane live music scene is back and there’s some really good bands on the circuit right now

Your approach to music seems quite different to a lot of current bands, in that its hugely visceral and cathartic rather than polished and poppy. Was this a conscious decision when you formed or something that came about naturally?

I think this was a bit of both, there was an unconscious decision because the bands that we listen to have a huge influence on our own original work so that just comes through your music naturally. And on the other side I think we made decisions about which tracks we wanted to release and play, the quite poppy and mainstream ones didn’t cut through as much as our raw heavy tracks did and I think that’s down to personal preference, we had an idea and a feeling we wanted to portray so to do that we just filtered out the different styles of tracks.

What are your key influences when it comes to your music?

For each member the influences vary drastically, for example josh our drummer is very versatile with his styles of music and playing, which comes through the music he listens to such as reggae, DNB, Soul etc.

At the end of the day we all have lots of different influences, but the main ones that run through us all are Nirvana, Pixies, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, [add some more influences here]. All of these bands just took over our musical and creative minds when we first heard them and I think they’ve really stuck with us and we are always playing and working with those in mind

Now the track is out what’s next

We’ve only got 2 singles out now and that’s only the start, there’s a lot more to do with this band. The next steps would be doing another single then an EP? These are still in the works at the moment we are just looking forward to our headline gig in September, rehearsing and writing and just getting tight with our tracks, give a sold out venue a really good show. That’s another thing as well definitely more gigs, I think we’ve got a strong set so it would be good for us to be getting out regularly in different venues in and around the North West.
