Introducing #252 - Lip Filler

Let us introduce you to West London indie-punk five piece Lip Filler - who make their introduction to the world with debut track ‘Cool’ - produced by St Francis Hotel (Little Simz, Greentea Peng, Michael Kiwanuka).

With inspirations collectively ranging from contemporary acts such as Blur and The Streets, to recent success stories Nilüfer Yanya, Wu-Lu and Sorry - the 5 piece are long time friends originally from the south west of England, the band consisting of guitarists Jude and Verity, bassist Theo, drummer Nate, and vocalist and keys player George, all now reside in a flat together above a chicken shop in Shepherds Bush.

It was within this flat they share that the 5 piece brought together their collective eclectic influences and Lip Filler's sound and ethos started to brew. A distinctive concoction of caustic indie rock and raucous, noughties-leaning dance-punk, Lip Filler are here to shake things up.

The band took a moment to talk to us about their music.

Hey Lip Filler, how are you? So your debut track ‘Cool’ is out now - can you tell us what it is about?
"Cool" is about poking fun at something when you're actually part of the thing that you're poking at. It's about putting on a guise. It's a satirical take on our surroundings and the people we encounter on nights out.

Where are you from and what are your favorite things to do there?
We live in Shepherds Bush together where we rehearse and sometimes clean the kitchen.

What are the key influences when it comes to your music?
We really like Radiohead, Sorry and I'm Twiss (Booda Remix) ft Kdot.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never listened to your music before?
The Michelin man on Mescalin. We also generally get described as noughties leaning dance-punk.

Now the track is out there, what next for you?
We want to play the festival circuit next year for sure. We also want to get this EP finished and released.
